It has been a remarkable weekend for BMW fans all over. The much awaited BMW i8 Concept Spyder videos hase been released. The videos shared new information about the car and its features. Millions of BMW fans have marked their calendars for later this month when the BMW i8 Concept Spyder will be showcased at the Beijing Auto Show. Car enthusiasts from all over will rush to witness this. Not only BMW fans, but other brand loyalists will also gasp with awe when they witness the features of this car. This car bestows the highest potential for the future of automobiles.
It is the counterpart of the i8 Coupe, and will be a petrol hybrid drivetrain. A whopping 223 Bhp will be generated by the turbo petrol engine, and an added 131 Bhp will be brought in by the electric motor. When combined in unison, the supercar will push through 354 Bhp with a peak torque of 550 Nm. 0 to 100 in just 5 seconds is achieved as the rear wheels are powered by the three cylinder turbo petrol engine and the front by the electric motor. At a claimed bottom range 33 Kmpl, the supercar will top off the charts as the most fuel efficient super vehicles so far.
A lithium ion battery will be utilized in the supercar which can be charged from any regular household socket or outlet. This battery will come to a full charge in 2 hours top. If the i8 Spyder is running on just the battery, a distance of 30 Kms can be safely covered. The battery will also recharge by itself using the brake energy regeneration, a high capacity alternator, and coasting energy regeneration. This recharge can happen even when the i8 Spyder supercar is on the go and moving.
Other than the state of the art, superior technologies that will power and run the car, being a BMW, the additional features are just as comparable. The interior is the height of style and contemporary imagery. It has the ever so dashing swivelling windowless doors that keep you in awe as they open and close. The display constructs of a high definition 8.8 in screen with three dimensional interface that gives driving information and instructions. The inside is dressed in carbon, plastic and the highest grade of leather you can place your hand on.
Combing such technologically advanced engineering and mile high style quotient must not be easy, but for the experts at BMW, it sure will be an achievement to mark when it goes to production sometime next year. Now, all eyes are waiting for a glimpse, a vision, a view of the BMW i8 Concept Spyder at the Beijing Motor Show this month. The year 2012 will sure be historic for BMW, and for BMW dealers everywhere. The launch of the car will mark a new era for car sales.
