With the arrival of the new F30 3 series in the fall of 2011 the coming of the new BMW M3 cant take long. We aspect the arrival in the summer of 2013.
It’s not yet clear how the new BMW M3 will be indicated, will it share the F30 3 series tag or will get its own F80 tag. In fact this doesn’t matter at all, it’s clear that the BMW M3 has the same (slightly modified) F30 chassis.
The new M3 will be available as a coupe (2 door) and a sedan (4 door). The new M3 is already spotted on several test tracks and will be available as manual and off course with the double clutch 7 or 8 speed gearbox.
After the V8 in the E90 BMW M3 there will be a whole engine for the F80 model. We expect a straight six or even a whole new V6 engine which will be powered by electric turbo’s. We expect a twin turbo system but rumors go around talking about a tri-turbo powered engine.
The new M3 will have around 450 horsepower an 550 nm of torque. A turbo charged car means all the power is quickly available already around 1500 rpm. This makes the car quick of the line, probably 0 – 60 takes about 4 seconds.
As we can see with the E90 335i (twin turbo straight six) a lot of power upgrade chips become available, like the JB4 chip that adds around 80 horsepower. The turbo charged M3 gives the tuners the possibility of easily adding an extra 100 horsepower, making the new F80 M3 even more powerful
The weight will be around 1600 kilograms. There’s now doubt that the new BMW F80 M3 will be the fastest M3 so far. And just like the new F10 BMW M5 it will certainly crush the competition from audi and mercedes.
We cant wait to have a go!
